You must consul a vet nary doctor when you find any disease symptoms in your puppy. Distemper virus is commonly found in golden retrievers and it is an airborne disease. Vaccinate your dog from 6 weeks to 16 weeks to prevent this disease. The symptoms are cough, vomiting, fever and diarrhea.

Heart worms are common in many golden retrievers and when they are not treated properly the disease nay lead to heart failure and the blood circulation will be inhibited. The puppy must be given worm medicines to prevent this disease.

Other common worm diseases are tapeworm and hookworm. Tape worms are caused by parasites while hookworms develop in the stomach when the puppy comes into contact with the feces.  These worm diseases are characterized by vomiting, weight loss and diarrhea.

Your puppy will be affected by heat stroke when it is exposed to sun for a long time. Make him drink plenty of water during the summer season. Rabies is a common disease among dogs and your puppy may be infected with the virus when it is bitten by another infected animal. The puppy will show ferocious behavior and you must take him immediately to the vet to treat the disease.
